South Dakota Students Art Competition at the South Dakota State Railroad Museum

You are invited to attend the second annual South Dakota Railroad Museum’s Student Arts Competition beginning on Saturday, July 4th.
The Museum is open 8:30AM to 4:30PM daily to the public through October 11. Please refer to www.sdsrm.org for 2020’s dates events, and specific hours of operation.
SAVE ON ADMISSION: The Museum will offer a one-half price discount ($3.50 per adult, 10 and under FREE) for those that mention the Student Art exhibit.
Through October 11th, the Museum is featuring the juried Art Exhibit featuring pieces created by over 50 South Dakota students from fifteen school districts. Many of the original art works (created on authentic railroad dispatcher’s sheets) will also be for sale. Other prints and original pieces of railroad art will also be for sale during the exhibit.
“It is a delightful getaway in the Heart of the Hills for a day or a weekend,” said Rick Mills, the Museum’s curator. “We invite everyone to experience the art and new Museum exhibits during our 10th anniversary year.”

Talking Circle Speaker Series at Crazy Horse Memorial®

Old West Shootouts on the 1880 Train

Experience an old west shootout aboard the 1880 Train! The shootout begins at the Hill City Station where a few bad guys board the train and hide their treasure. The train is stopped by cowboys and “held up” halfway between Keystone and Hill City. It’s a good thing the sheriff is in town!
To see the shootout, you must ride the designated Hill City to Keystone departure.
“Special Seating” for the shootout is available for these departures. These seats provide the best views of the shootout and are located in the middle three passenger cars, Red Fern, Oreville, and Harney Canyon. These seats are only available to those who begin their ride in Hill City. When selecting your departure, choose “Special Shootout Seating” in the drop down. These tickets are $5 more per adult and $3 more per child.
Regular tickets may also be purchased on shootout departures for the cars located on both ends of the line-up. You are still able to enjoy the shootout, just not with the view of the three middle cars.
