Farmer's Market~ Prairie Berry Winery

The Farmer’s Market at Prairie Berry Winery will be open Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 17 through October in the lower parking lot of The Homestead.

Vendors from around the area will be selling their locally grown fruits and vegetables, as well as selling fresh baked goods and meats. This premier market focuses on providing the highest quality produce and freshest items.

Arts Festival & Buffalo Roundup, Custer State Park

Enjoy a fun-filled weekend that includes an Arts Festival and Craft Show with 150 exhibitors selling Native American and Western Arts and Crafts and South Dakota Made Products. Non-stop entertainment under the big top features dancers, bands, and poets. Educational programs are also conducted throughout the weekend featuring educational talks, bluegrass music, speakers from the surrounding Black Hills area, and living history demonstrations. 53rd Annual Buffalo Roundup, Custer State Park

Witness one of the last great events of the Old West: the Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup. Watch cowboys and cowgirls on horseback and park crews in pickups round up the 1,300 buffalo and drive them into the corrals. Following the roundup, watch park crews sort, brand and vaccinate the herd in preparation for the fall sale. Breakfast is available in both viewing areas and lunch in the corrals following the roundup. Park entrance fees are waived the day of the roundup. More info: (605) 255-4515 or www.custerstatepark.com

6th Annual Fall Volksmarch - September 30, 2018
This autumn hike on Sunday, September 30th is held the same weekend as the Custer State Park Buffalo Round-Up. It is the public’s second chance of the year to walk up the world’s largest mountain carving in progress.

The Crazy Horse Volksmarch is the most popular organized hike in the United States (15,000 walkers in a record year). This family event is sponsored by the Black Hills Chapter of the American Volksmarch Association (AVA) and hosted by Crazy Horse Memorial.

*Volksmarches are held, weather permitting.

Native Americans’ Day

The Native Americans’ Day celebration at Crazy Horse each year includes naming the Crazy Horse Memorial Educator of the Year, honoring an individual who has made significant contributions to Native American education. The award includes a $1,000 grant to the recipient’s school library or to programs of his or her choice that help students. The holiday’s program also includes a free public program featuring Native American singers and dancers. Programs and displays featuring artists, storytellers and hands-on activities for children are offered in the visitor complex. A free buffalo stew lunch is available for all visitors.

Korczak Remembrance Day, Crazy Horse Memorial

Korczak Remembrance Day allows visitors to walk to the tomb of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski (1908-1982) to pay their respects to him, his wife Ruth Ziolkowski, daughter Anne & son-in-law James Howe, laid to rest in the family cemetery. This is the one time of the year that visitors are permitted to this area of the property and is a time for reflection as we move forward with Korczak & Ruth’s vision
