From the Board…

Our dedicated board and membership work to stimulate and sustain a vibrant business climate in Hill City.  Working in collaboration with the Rushmore Region and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, HOHEDC has made Affordable Housing development in Hill City its number one priority for 2019. This will help improve school district enrollment, increase available workforce, move Hill City toward year-round sustainability, and increase revenues with additional property taxes for the City. The additional revenue helps spread the costs for infrastructure improvements such as paving streets and utility upgrades making living in Hill City affordable as well. With all these things in mind, housing development is truly economic development.

Locally, we assist new businesses with research, identifying challenges and opportunities, business planning, financing options, introductions to local business owners and community members, and relocation to the area.  Existing business retention also is very important, as such HOHEDC provides consulting and support to Hill City businesses facing the challenges of growth or changing business climate.  Facilitating various sources of networking between existing businesses, area developers and funding sources are services provided by HOHEDC. Let us better serve you by sharing your questions and concerns and providing us with your email address for future communications through the newsletter.

HOHEDC functions as the interface to the West River Business office and the USDA Rural Business Development Loan Program.  To date, it has facilitated over $275,000 in low interest loans which benefited businesses in Hill City.

HOHEDC is truly committed to supporting the economic growth needed to keep our City vibrant and competitive in the region for the future. Please join us with your input and membership support for the economic improvement of our business community.

Sincerely,
Bob Lowery,
