The Mickelson Trail Trek comes through Hill City the same weekend. Experience Hill City where the rail meets the trail.

Experience an authentic vintage train as it winds its way through beautiful mountain passages. This 2 day event include guest lectures, memorabilia, model train displays, hand car competitions, a “run against the trail” event and the Railroadiana Swap and Sale

Mickelson Trail Trek
Black Hills Region

September 17th - 19th, 2004

The George S. Mickelson Trail follows the historic Deadwood to Edgemont Burlington Northern Rail Line, abandoned in 1983. Beauty unfolds as the bicyclists spend three days traveling the 109 mile trail. This is not a race, but an adventure through the heart of the Hills and an opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of other bicyclists. Pre-registration required.
