Hill City Wine, Brew, & BBQ

Held Friday and Saturday, August 24th & 25th, you can join with barbeque lovers from all over the region and beyond to sample lovingly-created BBQ from more than 30 of the best Pit Masters and BBQ enthusiasts. Vote for your favorite in the People's Choice Competition, always a crowd pleaser.  And bring your family! Kids will enjoy seeing the "Kids Q" Junior Competition, new this year. Enjoy tasty fare at BBQ Alley or grab a brew or glass of wine from the Wine & Brew Village and head for the live music. It's two days of big flavor, big fun and big festivities while taking in Hill City, the Heart of the Black Hills. See you there!

Hill City Olde Tyme Christmas & Lighted Parade

Thanksgiving weekend

A family-friendly event that welcomes Christmas with a parade, Christmas tree lighting, roasted chestnuts, hot cider and cookies, and special guests and events throughout the town’s shops, attractions and train museum.  An old-fashioned small-town lighted parade kicks off at 6p sharp.  Santa visits with children and hands out apples at the SD State Railroad Museum following the parade.  A wonderful tradition to enjoy with your family!

Hill City Community Easter Egg Hunt

March 24, 2018   10:00 am - 11:00


Bring your Easter basket and hop on over to the Visitor Information Center for Hill City's Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 24th, 2018.  Pre-hunt line-up starts at 9:45; Easter Egg Hunt begins at 10am sharp!  Prizes given in three age groups:  0-3; 4-7; 8-11.  The Easter Bunny, along with his helpers, will be on hand for photos and high-fives.  This Easter Egg Hunt is held thanks to the generosity of the VIC and Chamber staff who volunteer their time, to the children and youth of the Hill City Boys & Girls Club of the Black Hills who stuff the eggs and our Chamber members who donate treats and prizes for the eggs and Easter baskets.  If you wish, after the hunt, participants can empty their plastic eggs and place them in special tubs for staff to recycle.  See you on the 24th!

Crazy Horse & Korczak Night Blast, Crazy Horse Memorial

September 6, 2018 -    Crazy Horse & Korczak Night Blast

The second traditional night blast of the year is on September 6th. The blast honors the dual anniversaries of the 1877 death of Crazy Horse and of the 1908 birth of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski.

The public is welcome at the night blasts. After 5:00 p.m. on September 6th the Memorial gratefully accepts three cans of food per person for the KOTA Care and Share Food Drive in lieu of the regular admission fee. Because the night blasts are among the Memorial’s most popular events, the public is advised to arrive early. The restaurant at Crazy Horse closes at 4pm on the evenings of the night blasts but the Snack Shop remains open.

Important note: Night blasts are conducted on a “weather permitting” basis.

Black Hills Film Festival

Black Hills Film Festival

The 9th Annual Black Hill Film Festival, April 25 through April 29, 2018 features more than 20 films including narrative and documentary films from South Dakota and around the world. Many filmmakers will be on hand after their film’s debut to answer audience questions while movie industry professionals conduct sessions on movie making and acting. Biker Breakfast

Fabulous breakfast hosted by the fabulous folks of Hill City at the Senior Center!  Hill City Senior Center members and volunteers put on an all-you-can-eat breakfast daily during Rally for bikers and everyone who is able to join them.  An awesome opportunity to visit with folks from all over the country and sometimes, from around the world--all while enjoying hearty fare.
