Hill City Wine, Brew, & BBQ

If you love great BBQ, a flavorful glass of wine or an excellent craftbrew, music and fun--all wrapped up into one event--then Hill City is the place to be for this year's 6th Annual Wine Brew & BBQ! Held Friday and Saturday, August 24th & 25th, you can join with barbeque lovers from all over the region and beyond to sample lovingly-created BBQ from more than 30 of the best Pit Masters and BBQ enthusiasts. Vote for your favorite in the People's Choice Competition, always a crowd pleaser.  And bring your family! Kids will enjoy seeing the "Kids Q" Junior Competition, new this year. Enjoy tasty fare at BBQ Alley or grab a brew or glass of wine from the Wine & Brew Village and head for the live music. It's two days of big flavor, big fun and big festivities while taking in Hill City, the Heart of the Black Hills. See you there!

Korczak Remembrance Day allows visitors to walk to the tomb of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski (1908-1982) to pay their respects to him, his wife Ruth Ziolkowski, daughter Anne & son-in-law James Howe, laid to rest in the family cemetery. This is the one time of the year that visitors are permitted to this area of the property and is a time for reflection as we move forward with Korczak & Ruth’s vision

Truly western; The Mount Rushmore Rodeo at Palmer Gulch. Cowboys and Cowgirls will compete in BULL Riding, Bronc Riding, Team Roping and Barrel Racing. The Clowns and "Mutton Bustin" are sure to please the crowd. Cowboys and Cowgirls will sign autographs followed by a Cowboy dance with Live Music. See ya at the Rodeo!!

Native Americans’ Day

The Native Americans’ Day celebration at Crazy Horse each year includes naming the Crazy Horse Memorial Educator of the Year, honoring an individual who has made significant contributions to Native American education. The award includes a $1,000 grant to the recipient’s school library or to programs of his or her choice that help students. The holiday’s program also includes a free public program featuring Native American singers and dancers. Programs and displays featuring artists, storytellers and hands-on activities for children are offered in the visitor complex. A free buffalo stew lunch is available for all visitors.
