Last Evening Lighting Ceremony

Each evening, May through September, a ceremony is held in the park's outdoor Amphitheater. It highlights the making of this national monument with a video, flag lowering ceremony, a salute to veterans and lighting of the memorial.

Autumn Volksmarch

5th Annual Fall Volksmarch - October 1, 2017
This autumn hike on Sunday, October 1 is held the same weekend as the Custer State Park Buffalo Round-Up. It is the public’s second chance of the year to walk up the world’s largest mountain carving in progress.

The Crazy Horse Volksmarch is the most popular organized hike in the United States (15,000 walkers in a record year). This family event is sponsored by the Black Hills Chapter of the American Volksmarch Association (AVA) and hosted by Crazy Horse Memorial.

Calling all goblins, ghosties and ghouls! This Halloween festival is a spooktacular event for all ages of goblins and their kooky families. So dust off those cobwebs and come out for this fun aftenoon-to-evening event that begins with Merchant Trick-or-Treating and winds up with the Halloween Carnival at the Boys & Girls Club.

Olde Tyme Christmas
Thanksgiving weekend

A family-friendly event that welcomes Christmas with a parade, Christmas tree lighting, roasted chestnuts, hot cider and cookies, and special guests and events throughout the town’s shops, attractions and train museum.  An old-fashioned small-town lighted parade kicks off at 6p sharp.  Santa visits with children and hands out apples at the SD State Railroad Museum following the parade.  A wonderful tradition to enjoy with your family!
