Why Recycle?

There are many benefits to recycling:

  • Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators.
  • Conserves natural resources such as timber, water and minerals.
  • Saves energy.
  • Prevents pollution by reducing the need to collect new raw materials.
  • Increases economic security by tapping a domestic source of materials.

How Do I Recycle?

In four easy steps, you can begin a recycling program for your household waste:

1.  Determine a location in your home to store recyclables.  A second trash can will work.
2.  Make sure to rinse out each item.
3.  Sort the recyclables yourself.
4.  Take your sorted recyclables to your nearest recycling center.
