Mickelson Trail Lodge
Opening May 1, 2017. All new, custom-built lodge. Four rooms have a private patio and kitchenette with microwave, mini refrigerator, and coffee maker. A six person suite is also available with a fully equipped kitchen, living area and patio. A wheelchair accessible room has a wheel-in shower. Common areas include a screened porch with 20’ cathedral ceiling, an inviting log covered patio featuring a mammoth wood burning fireplace, a private swimming pool (exclusively for the use of our guests), gardens, and a unique roof top hot tub with spectacular views of pine covered hills and the valley below.

otally renovated in April 2015, Gold Pan Inn is waiting for you!! Our home is wheelchair accessible with no stairs to climb. The comfy living room welcomes you to relax watching TV while the dining room is the perfect place for a couple/family dinner. An open concept allows you to cook in the fully furnished kitchen (dishes, pots & pans, a coffeemaker, and a blender) while the family plays games on the dining room table.
The master bedroom boasts a king-size bed and en-suite bath. The second bedroom has a queen bed with a full bath directly across the hall. Towels and bedding are all provided…all you need to bring is your clothes, food and personal items.
Our home is situated on Prospect Mountain which gives you a beautiful view of the 1880 Train from the deck while sipping your favorite glass of wine (did we mention there are 4 wineries to visit in Hill City?) A grill is available for your use.
Hill City is centrally located to all the major attractions in the Black Hills. Crazy Horse is only 8 minutes away; Mt. Rushmore is 15 minutes away. Custer State Park beckons with buffalo, elk, pronghorn, prairie dogs, and donkeys. If you are really lucky you will also see the mountain goats and the big horn sheep! You can rent ATV's just outside town or take a trail ride on a great little horse!
And, Hill City itself is a fabulous, quaint little town. You can visit unique shops (The Farmer's Daughter), peruse some of the finest art in the Black Hills (there are 4 art galleries), ride the 1880 Train, or come face-to-face with Stan…the T-Rex! And, of course, the restaurants are amazing!
Also available a couple blocks from our home is the Mickelson Trail where you can ride bikes (rentals available downtown), walk, run, or jog. The Trail is 109 miles through the middle of the Black Hills. Gorgeous!!

Rafter J Bar Ranch & Campground
The Rafter J Bar Ranch is comprised of five camping areas separated by alpine meadows and shaded by large ponderosa pines. Choose a remote site, or camp close to the resorts activity center. We offer electric, water and sewer sites along with many tent sites. Some sites have satellite TV hookups. Enjoy a crackling fire and quiet hours that begin at 10:00 P.M. There's also full-time camp security. Enjoy our swimming complex which features the addition of a hot tub. We are located adjacent to the George Mickelson Hiking & Biking Trail. Our resort is also surrounded by National Forest with endless opportunities to hike and bike. The Rafter J Bar Ranch is the perfect headquarters for Black Hills sightseeing, minutes away from Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State park and the 1880 Train.

Newton Fork Ranch
We offer six intimate real log cabins for nightly or weekly rental year-round. Our cabins circle a peaceful meadow and are placed well back from the road. Newton Fork Ranch will become your “home away from home;” your peaceful oasis from a world filled with time constraints and non-stop activity. Our fully furnished and well-equipped log cabins will afford you a welcome respite from a hectic life. An afternoon sitting on the deck watching wildlife or an evening spent by a warm fire will transport you to a far simpler and more tranquil time.
Each cabin features a full kitchen with range, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, cookware, dinnerware and utensils. Each also has a gas fireplace, gas barbeque, an old-fashioned claw-foot bathtub or rock shower, towels, bedding, and a porch with breathtaking views. Five have lofts and comfortably sleep up to four people. Our sixth, which has a view of Harney Peak, is a two bedroom and can sleep up to eight. The cabins are placed a short distance apart to afford peace and tranquility. In addition to our six log cabins, we also offer accommodations in a unique and historical ranch house built in 1914.
We have a private access gate that opens directly onto the Mickelson trail.
PETS: Newton Fork Ranch welcomes guests traveling with their well-behaved pets. GUESTS TRAVELING WITH HORSES: we have two heavy-duty 12' x 12' paneled corrals available for a small rental fee. Located in a lovely aspen grove, there is also room for guests to erect their own electric fencing if preferred. Call for details.

Custer State Park in the Black Hills encompasses 71,000 acres of spectacular terrain and an abundance of wildlife. Within the park, you'll discover a world of adventure!
The newly constructed Custer State Park Visitor Center is open to the public 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. MDT.
A herd of 1,300 bison roams freely throughout the park, often stopping traffic along the 18-mile Wildlife Loop Road. The herd is one of the largest publically-owned herds in the world.
